Performing Myofascial static cupping on a very happy patient

Myofascial Cupping
Myofascial cupping is a technique that uses suction cups to treat soft tissue injuries, pain and restrictions.

How it works

Once areas of musculoskeletal dysfunction and tension have been identified, Suction cups are applied to
the area, the suction creates a negative pressure, which lifts the underlying soft tissues into the cups,
allowing the tiny blood vessels under the skin to expand. This helps to heal in the following ways:

Increase blood flow: which delivers oxygen rich nutrients to the area, which helps our body to clear
inflammation and decrease pain.

Stimulate Nerves: Cupping can stimulate the small nerves within the tissues which causes them to
release our bodies own pain relieving chemicals.

Reduce tension & Increase range of motion: by increasing the flow of blood and breaking down and
fibrous adhesions that may causing tightness and tension, cupping can help to restore normal muscle
length and function.

Cupping can be either glided, which is where the cups are moved in different directions over the area. And
Static, where the cups are positioned and left in place for up to 15 minutes.
Glided cupping can be used to complement Chiropractic treatment in a small area. For multiple areas of
treatment and for Static cupping, Stand-alone sessions are offered and can be tailored to your individual
needs.
